ABSTRACT
The purpose of the Mobility Outcomes via Information Technologies (MOvIT) project is to examine the feasibility of systematic montoring for wheelchair (WC) adverse event or adverse consequence from WC use. The MOvIT screening questionnaire was developed and face validated by a user-centered approach to assess nine potential adverse WC outcomes considered important for end-users (eg. pain, WC incidents, psychosocial issues). This paper presents Phase II feasibility study results with a prospective cohort of 70 adults >50 years where the questionnaire was administered through computerized calls 1 and 3 months after WC delivery. Feasibility was confirmed by an acceptance rate of 77.2%, and the detection of an adverse WC outcome for 58.0% of WC users. Most participants found the intervention useful (81.5%) and 83.0% would use the MOvIT monitoring in the future. The MOvIT calls were feasible and well accepted for post-rehabilitation support.
